Zetman Final Episode

Kouga, you battle-crazed idiot. I guess that wasn’t a bad plan for Haitani…too bad it failed. Well, show’s over, but it sorta suggests another season with the man in the shadows. Kouga is pretty much Batman in the end…head of the company and killing Players in the night. Meanwhile, Jin’s become the true hero who doesn’t need to be recognized.

Not a bad show altogether. In all, though, everything seemed to go pretty quickly. It made most of the scenes seem a bit sudden…maybe it was just me. The ending was to be expected, but it wasn’t done in a way that made me cringe, so I can’t really say anything about it.

Zetman Episode 12

What the heck happened to Kouga? I can’t believe all that crap worked and he actually shot his father. In a longer anime, I’d say Jin would have to get him back on the right path. Since there isn’t time for that, I guess it’s not as bad as it looks? Honestly, it looks like there is too much to resolve in one episode, but I will see how it goes. I really wonder how Konoha is going to factor into things…with Kouga responsible for shooting her parents, it looks pretty likely that she will die.

I guess Hanako was Haitani’s trap? Rather than tampering with the Red Stone, I guess he’s trying to force Jin to kill her so that he will join him. I would say that’s not particularly the best plan because Jin has protagonist protection against corruption…theoretically. Still, it’s not like Hanako can stay that way forever…that means he either finds a way to turn her back or she will do something like take a hit for him and die. I’m leaning towards the second one…sounds pretty standard in a show like this. Either way, we’ll have to see.

Zetman Episode 11

Sounds like the final battle is starting up. That whole thing with Jirou and Hayami trying to make Kouga kill his father was actually pretty interesting…too bad it epic failed. It’s actually looking like the series focuses more on Kouga than Jin…which is kinda weird.

It looks like Haitani is trying to force Jin to become complete and join him, but I don’t understand how he intends to do that second part. Does the transformation somehow overtake Jin’s consciousness? Surely the Amagi Corporation wouldn’t design him like that. Either way, I guess we’ll see next week.

Zetman Episode 10

Not sure what to say about this episode. On one side, the Jin and Haitani part is fairly straightforward with Haitani revealing the Players and causing havoc while Jin rushes to save people. However, that old dude and Kouga is just…I dunno. I’m not sure I understand the logic behind his tests.

Saving Konoha instead of the three girls was the wrong choice. Going with the girl and trying to save everyone was the wrong choice. Fighting the mech instead of running ahead is the wrong choice. Is he simply trying to show that self-preservation is the correct form of justice? If so, what’s up with that first test? Oh well…the test continues next week, so maybe we’ll get an answer.

Zetman Episode 9

Well…hmm…that romance was kinda sudden. Not even sure where that came from. That aside, the main thing this week besides failing to get the pendant is that the leader of EVOL is asking Jin for help against Haitani. Given the circumstances, it seems fairly legitimate to me, but we can never rule out the possibility of a trap.

As for Kouga, while he still acts like a child with a lot of toys, I have to admit that his fighting ability without his suit against the Jin clones was pretty impressive. And with Konoha, her desire to figure out the truth is almost like throwing up a death flag for me…I can’t say for sure, but it’s possible that she dies.

I’m not sure how I feel about this series…based on the pacing, it looks like it’s building up to Jin’s first transformation as a climax and then ending shortly after with Haitani’s defeat (he doesn’t seem the type to die so easily. Anyways, next week looks like Kouga will be placed in another one of those “hero tests.” I wonder if he’ll eventually pick the other option, leading to Konoha’s death.

Zetman Episode 8

The aftermath period covers most of this week’s episode. Mostly, Jin finally finds out about Kanzaki…who ends up confirming that the pendant is the key to ZET’s awakening. Pretty easy call. From the conversations from Amagi Corp, it’s clear that they go to great lengths to keep the knowledge of Players in check. I was surprised that Kouga didn’t know anything about them, but it makes sense with all this talk about memory wiping.

Anyway, next week looks to be another crisis situation for Konoha. I’m not sure if the Jin in the preview was the real one or some impostor…can’t be sure with a show like this. Final note: this show brings up an interesting point with the Players and ZET. They create a life form that goes out of their control, so they create a stronger one to take care of it. Don’t they ever consider what happens when the stronger one gets out of their control? Yeesh…

Zetman Episode 7

This week’s episode concludes the battle introducing ZET and Alphas. Besides how cool it is that Kouga has a gunblade, Jin does a lot of discovery of his own powers in the fight. Still…was I the only one that thought he seemed weaker in his red form than his white form? I guess based on the ZET levels that the guys watching were seeing, it made sense, but they made his red form sound so amazing. Maybe my prediction last week was right and it was still a failure of a red form that Haitani induced.

I would assume that in order to gain his true form, Jin has to get that pendant back from Konoha. They’ve been making a pretty huge deal of it, so it has to be linked somehow. I’m less interested with Kouga, though…I’m not sure why, but a suit powered by his emotional state doesn’t seem all that intriguing to me. That bit at the end with Tanaka was kinda weird though. Makes me wonder if she’s a Player as well…maybe an EVOL with screwed up memories for Haitani’s plans. Either way, next week looks like Kanzaki’s coming back into the fold. Not sure what that’s about, but we’ll see.

Zetman Episode 6

So about halfway through this series and Jin finally takes the form of ZET we see in the opening. Strangely enough, this is triggered with the help of Haitani, who stabs him with a piece of the Ring of Exposure. I’m curious about his motives. On the one hand, he may have transformed Jin in a way that’s defective causing him to later take an even stronger form…seems like a typical setup. But still, given his character, I can’t discount the possibility that he wanted Jin to take his true form for his own amusement…not sure which to favor.

Kouga also debuts as Alphas in this week’s episode. He’s once again given the choice from the earlier episode with taking a risk to save everyone or ensuring the safety of some. He once again chooses to ensure safety, leaving Jin despite his injuries. Still, it’s harder to beat him up about his choice this time because we know that Jin could fight for himself and that he had to stay on the battlefield for the story. I’m still wondering about Amagi’s motives with Jin, but I like how Jin and Kouga both have their own support crew for now (they’re so similar, but different). Next week, it looks like Jin and Kouga will team up for some Player-killing action. Wonder if they’ll stay allies or become rivals.

Zetman Episode 5

This week’s episode marks the arrival of Kouga into the fray. His suit’s complete and he’s on his way to save his sister. Still…he kinda annoys me. The way he reacted to the suit when it was first shown to him and his sense of justice…he’s such a child. He really just sounds like a spoiled rich boy for now. Hopefully that changes…we can’t have him going around being some childhood fantasy come true. Kouga also meets that weird guy who “tests” him as a hero. I’m not completely sure what that test was for…it doesn’t seem to have had an effect on Kouga and the guy doesn’t seem to have reacted to the results in any way.

A couple of introductions this week. The girl from last week introduces herself as Tanaka, but refuses to give out her first name. Is she ashamed of it? We also get a name on that weird creepy dude that’s been sneaking around, Haitani. He calls himself an EVOL…but from the conversations in this episode, EVOL sounds more like an organization name than a species name. EVOLs must still be Players in some way…the Sweeper said that Jin was neither Player nor human…I find it strange that he didn’t either a) assume Jin was an EVOL or b) say that Jin wasn’t an EVOL either. Maybe I’m just over-analyzing. Questions aside, next week looks to be a continuation of the hostage crisis, but with the addition of Tanaka. Maybe Jin will finally become ZET…hopefully Kouga joins in the fight.

Zetman Episode 4

Back again with another episode and another time skip. This time, it’s two years past. After taking Amagi’s offer, Jin has to distance himself from everyone. Kind of a weird turn since normally the superheroes of western culture tend to voluntarily do so. Kouga also seems to have slacked off in these two years after what Konoha said to him. Anyways, we’re sorta introduced to another character (she’s in the opening, so I can only assume). Not sure what her name is, but it looks like she might be the trigger to get Jin to become ZET.

There’s also this deal with the Sweeper…thought he was Kouga, but I doubt that’s the case. Is the Sweeper a Player? It kinda sounds like it. And did you see Amagi’s expression this week? Totally looks evil. Next week looks to be the entrance of Kouga. With Konoha captured, Jin and Kouga may have to team up. Heck…maybe Jin will transform into the true ZET form. He hit 150% this week and still didn’t turn red. Although, I’m assuming it’s because he was forcefully transformed. Preview didn’t really give me much to go on…guess I’ll just have to see.
