Binbougami ga Episode 3

Not sure why Ichiko annoys me so much. Was this even supposed to be character development for her this week? She seemed to see things differently at the end, but is she actually changing?  What surprised me in this episode was the fact that Momiji didn’t point out that the kid Ryuu being locked in the sewer was technically Ichiko’s fault. Think about it…she leeches Fortune. Instead, there was this idea that she could “activate” her Fortune for others, which bugs me because I feel like good fortune should be something that isn’t in your control. Oh well…

Next week looks to just go back to business as usual. I dunno if I wanna keep writing about this…maybe it’s a bit much. I’m running out of things to say. I suppose if the show actually has a goal (probably in the form of reforming Ichiko so that she isn’t just selfishly leeching from everyone), then maybe…otherwise, it’s just random comedy, which isn’t bad, but nearly impossible to cover. Final side note: that scene where Momiji pockets the money on the ground while lecturing Ichiko made me laugh a lot more than I expected…

Binbougami ga Episode 2

So…new character: perverted priest…also Momiji joins Ichiko’s class. Just adding another dynamic to the fight between Momiji and Ichiko (the priest basically trolls Ichiko)…I guess that’s just what this show is. So many references to other shows too…some of which I got-ish. Some of the stuff is pretty funny…I’ll stick with it, I guess…least I can do is see what other character they’re going to add. It’s one of those shows where logic goes out the window…what I’d call mindless comedy.

Well, the preview doesn’t really give me much about next week, but it looks like the battle may be off while Ichiko deals with some personal stuff (some guy in her class?). I wonder if this Nadeshiko at the end of the episodes will ever become a full character or if she’s just doomed to pointing out her appearances at the end.

Binbougami ga First Impressions

So…I’m not completely sure what I just watched. I guess this show is the mindless comedy of the season…pitting a God of MisfortuneFlatness, Momiji, against a normal human, Sakura, presumably a reincarnation of a God of Fortune or something. So what exactly is the rationale behind sending a God of Misfortune (presumably a being that would be compulsively unlucky) to take care of an incredibly fortunate human, who would likely be too fortunate to be stopped.

I guess these sorts of paradoxical arguments show up when you try to quantify luck (for example, why would an extremely lucky person care about a dying butler when they should be so lucky not to experience negative emotions?). I could go on forever…

I guess the main question is where do we go from here? Does the entire show consist of this Momiji vs. Sakura struggle? If so, that can get really boring really fast. Or will they add more characters that can “withstand” Sakura’s fortune leeching?

Other than that, I’d say I actually was okay with the opening and ending songs…not outrageously silly songs as you would expect from a show like this (the ending kinda pushes it, though).
