Hataraku Maou-sama Episode 7: Sacred Dagger

[Commie] Hataraku Maou-sama! - 07 [1CABAB28].mkv_snapshot_18.17_[2013.05.21_13.55.31]

The enemy is here, but has been repelled with the amazing power of…Holy Vitamin Beta (sounds like the prototype of a very bad video game). First instinct says that the culprit must be the new girl, but this makes no sense…why would she attack Emilia right after she offered to help her? So that means more people are trickling into Japan from Ente Isla?

Hey…what am I supposed to get from this preview? All I can tell you is that it has something to do with watermelons and James from Team Rocket. Does that mean…firecrackers at the beach? Come on…give me something here.

Hataraku Maou-sama Episode 6: What would we do without copyrights?

[Commie] Hataraku Maou-sama! - 06 [694CA9F4].mkv_snapshot_17.26_[2013.05.14_12.51.28]

What? More new characters? How many people are they going to try to cram in that tiny apartment? Lucifer’s bad enough…they should make that guy stay with Emilia or something. They’d get along great, right? They don’t really need both Lucifer and Ashiya to do research, right?

Anyway, based on the opening theme, that new character is the cloaked girl from Ente Isla and the one that was watching them at the school. So she must have followed them back, but what’s her purpose? From the preview, she doesn’t look to have any malicious intent yet…but there was talk of killing the characters in Ente Isla, so what is she here for? Also, anyone musically inclined is crying right now:

Psst...a little to the right
Psst…a little to the right

Hataraku Maou-sama Episode 5: And we’re back to normal

[Commie] Hataraku Maou-sama! - 05 [E1E89217].mkv_snapshot_10.35_[2013.05.07_13.07.06]

Well, that’s no fun…the fight against Lucifer was just a straightforward affair. The reinforcements didn’t even do anything…Maou just beat the crap out of him. Probably the silliest battle I’ve ever seen. Everyone gets the powers back for a little bit to show off or something…

Now everyone can go back to doing what they were doing. As far as I can tell, the show could very easily have just ended with this episode. Now, we have random episodes until they try doing something similar to this battle later on, and that’ll pretty much wrap up the series.

Hataraku Maou-sama Episode 4

[Commie] Hataraku Maou-sama! - 04 [833070E3].mkv_snapshot_10.46_[2013.04.30_12.50.43]

The stage seems set to me. They pointed out in Emilia’s flashback that Lucifer was the one to destroy the village, presumably on Maou’s  orders. But now that Lucifer has appeared, he will likely reveal something that allows Emilia to start on the path to forgiving Maou. Isn’t that nice?

The question, though, is how does Chiho factor into all of this? Lucifer makes it seem like she’s some sort of catalyst…but what makes her special? It can’t just be her interaction with Maou…because then what about Rika? Anyway, next week, time to fight? It also looked like some reinforcements were on the way for Emilia.

Hataraku Maou-sama Episode 3: Demon mode activate!

[Commie] Hataraku Maou-sama! - 03 [485027D8].mkv_snapshot_13.48_[2013.04.23_11.24.32]

Emilia is having a revelation! Maou is saving people! Maybe he’s not actually evil…so now everyone can be a team to fight the true evil. As for that…all we have so far is a brief phone conversation. This might be stretching, but the hair color is fairly similar to Maou’s in demon form…some relation there?

As we can see from the preview, Maou’s new form is only temporary, which is to be expected. He has to fit into society after all. Is it a recurring thing, though? Those probes or whatever that are causing the earthquakes…do they transfer powers with them when one of the Enta Isla people?

Hataraku Maou-sama Episode 2: Sniping the guy who messed up your order is not the answer

[Commie] Hataraku Maou-sama! - 02 [9268D145].mkv_snapshot_12.22_[2013.04.15_07.14.11]

Okay, so Emilia is perfectly well off on her own. Why exactly couldn’t the two demons get a job and apartment at a similar level? Man, that’s just sad. Well, Emilia acts pretty much the way you’d expect…don’t go too dere for Maou now…you’re still supposed to be killing this guy, right?

I guess I should suspect that something’s up with Chiho too. Why else would she be targeted by the earthquakes? Either she’s the one behind it or there’s just something different about her that Maou hasn’t noticed yet. She seems to be getting a focus in the next episode anyway.

Hataraku Maou-sama First Impressions: Being a demon lord doesn’t pay well these days

[Commie] Hataraku Maou-sama! - 01 [377BE214].mkv_snapshot_07.21_[2013.04.05_21.21.29]

An interesting setup, I guess…seems fairly familiar…a bit funny, I guess. Demon lord trapped in a human body forced to make a living on Earth until he can restore his powers. If I had to guess where this show is going to go, it’s pretty simple. Maou will likely change his mind about fighting humans after co-existing with them so long…it’s the only way this can end, right?

As for Emilia, more than likely she will be forced to stay with Maou and Alsiel because she has similarly lost her abilities in transit to this world. I have no real plans to cover this show, to be honest. I may continue watching if I feel like putting forth the effort…I don’t foresee it being funny enough to keep my interest.
