World Trigger Episode 6: Is riding a bike really that difficult?

This week’s episode was pretty awkward to me…they just cleaned up all of the irregular gates in an instant. It felt absurdly easy. As a result, Osamu gets promoted and ends up finally being useful in a fight against a Neighbor. Who knew he had it in him? Also, we’re finally introduced to Chika, Osamu’s childhood friend who seems to attract Neighbors.

Anyway, next week’s episode goes more into Chika, formally introducing her into the cast. This isn’t much of a spoiler, but if I remember correctly, her attracting Neighbors was just because of her ridiculous Trion level (which ends up making her more useful than Osamu, I would say). We’re getting to the point where the story shifts away from fending off the Neighbor invasion…we’ll see how it goes.

World Trigger Episode 5: Mikumo is busted

Most of this week’s episode was a big fancy meeting…not all that much to comment on. I will say this, though: Osamu must really want Jin-sempai to notice him if he got that excited just because Jin called him “Megane-kun”. He doesn’t even consider the possibility that Jin just calls people wearing glasses that by default and just assumes that Jin remembers him…

It looks like next week will introduce Chika Amatori to the cast (we’ve already seen her before, but now the focus will shift to her). Chika and Osamu know each other pretty well and she has a bit of a special ability. She’s also much more powerful that Osamu is, which is part of why this series just got harder to follow after this point. I still think she’s a good character, but I got tired of seeing Osamu just get beaten by everyone.

World Trigger Episode 4: Keeping Yuma a secret is getting old

Back after a week’s break and the focus is Kitora Ai…probably one of my least-favorite characters in this show. But if I remember correctly, she doesn’t have that much of a role in the coming episodes, so it’s probably not a big deal. There really isn’t all that much to comment on in this episode…just more of Osamu being Osamu and a bit of display of ability for Ai.

From the preview, it looks like next week is the meeting with the Border higher-ups. Is it finally time for Yuma to reveal himself? Also, it looks like Jin will be making his appearance. The next episode should launch the next major piece of the series…the part that I didn’t really agree with. We’ll see how it ends up going…all I know is that there ends up being a lot of fights that I skimmed through the first time.

World Trigger Episode 3: That looked easy

This is the part of the story where things got a bit weird for me. First off, the whole thing with the “Trion gland” was a bit facepalm-worthy. But I guess I have more of a problem with Osamu taking credit for fending off the attack on the school. It seemed to devalue him in the upcoming parts. He’s already weak as it is and now people have this unrealistic expectation of him…makes him seem even more useless than before.

Still, when watching the anime, the scene comes off more as Yuma trolling Osamu because he forced him to lay low as a Neighbor instead of just giving him the credit for free, which made the scene feel a bit better to me. Anyway, next week goes more into Ai Kitora, who was introduced this week…her character isn’t really all too interesting.
