Well, that’s the first dungeon cleared. So I guess the show is going to be a competition of some sort? We’ve seen that there are multiple Magi, so I guess they will fight each other or race through the dungeons so that their “chosen king” becomes the actual king? Makes sense to me. And you know…the stuff that we saw coming…lord got killed, Morgiana was freed blah blah.
Then again…I find the lord’s death to be odd. For one, because of how desperately Morgiana was clinging to him, I assume he was supposed to do something for her that he can’t if he’s gone (otherwise she could leave at any time). Also, they showed flashes of his memory, which bugs me. But he was sealed in the dungeon…
What’s up with that episode ending? Aladdin got split from Alibaba? I thought they were supposed to travel together. Oh well, it looks from the preview like Aladdin needs some time alone to figure out what he’s supposed to do before he meets up with Alibaba again. Kinda foolish for Alibaba to be walking around by himself with all that gold now, but I guess he’s not completely useless in a fight. I guess the question now is who is Morgiana going to meet up with? Will she go back to the city and hang with Alibaba until Aladdin shows up or will she randomly run into Aladdin in her own travels?
Oh hey…more slavery stuff. I get that people probably really did act this way, but yeesh…that lord guy’s overdoing it. I guess this week was a bit of a showcase of Alibaba with Aladdin too tired to fight. He showed that he’s decent with a knife and also that he’s pretty knowledgeable and clever. It was pretty easy to predict that he faked his death since he was the only one to read the inscription…being immortal would be way too convenient. Still, he has some sort of dark secret…he killed someone maybe?
Also more stuff with Morgiana…who is finally introduced now that I think about it. I suppose it’s pretty obvious that the lord will be forced to free her pretty soon (possibly next week), but will the lord be killed (by Aladdin or maybe that other slave?) or will he just be “convinced” by Aladdin’s power? Either way, the first dungeon should be complete by next week, right? Pretty straightforward show, I suppose.
So, fears of a new Campione seem to be quelled for now. I mean, sure there was a tentacle monster and the main character’s a bit of a pervert, but it’s not as bad yet (those kisses *shiver*). Anyway, this story follows Aladdin, a mage of some sort. Joining him are Alibaba and probably eventually Morgiana, a (former?) slave. Oh, and he’s also got a flute that houses a djinn named Ugo…yeah, there’s that. I got the impression that Aladdin was supposed to be a mage, but he seemed to mostly rely on Ugo, with the exception of making the carpet fly. What exactly is the extent of his abilities?
The opening song is pretty decent…if the ending song is the song that was playing while Aladdin and Alibaba were heading to the dungeon, then it’s not really my style. Speaking of dungeons, isn’t that too much of a video game premise for this show? Clearing dungeons? Oh well, I guess next week is when we find out more about that. Maybe go into Aladdin’s past a bit…I’m assuming he was locked away from the world based on how ignorant he was about the slaves and stuff. I hope I do an adequate job of covering this show because I won’t understand the 1000 Arabian Nights references…I’ll do my best. And they’re going to pick up Morgiana, right?
