Interesting. It looks like Nice is actually the top graduate from the academy that trained the Minimum Holders. It also looks like our big bad knows who he is and is targeting him. I don’t really like how they’re presenting the villain. He comes off too much as the crazy villain that must be defeated. I feel like if they made him slightly more human-like, they could have had a more ambiguous villain (kinda like in Psycho Pass). Because he’s actually granting people the power they can’t get normally. I guess I’m just disappointed.
Anyway, the story is unfolding pretty quickly. I’m starting to wonder if this big bad is only the first boss. If he’s the main focus for the entire show, he’ll have to be hiding around quite a lot. Also, I wonder if Art will eventually be pulled in by him. It looked like he got out okay this week, but who knows? Maybe it’ll be someone else on the police force…
Well, I guess that explains the attacks on Minimum Holders that Art mentioned last week. It looks like someone is killing them to take their brains and use them to create artificial Minimum Holders. I suppose that will be the main story for this show. I feel like that sounds familiar for some reason. Also, doesn’t Nice’s power seem a bit too strong? By the way he teleported to the school store to try and buy food, it looks like he move pretty quick (presumably at the speed of sound based on his power).
Other than that, it looks like the Hamatora group will reach that guy by completing tasks like this week. I’m not really opposed to this sort of mystery-solving style of episode. Depending on what kind of mysteries/tasks they’re doing, though, each episode could kinda go either way. We’ll just have to see.
Well, this show seems to be a typical setup following a poor guy, apparently named Nice, with psychic powers as he tries to make money. It looks like the use of Minimum requires some sort of action to be taken, similar to the Contractors of Darker than Black, but much less damaging. So far, we’ve seen things like listening to music, biting on a taser (this didn’t look harmful), and chewing gum as prerequisites, so it’s clearly not meant to be a price. However, I could see it being used against them in the future.
I actually quite liked the opening song of this series…ending song not as much, but definitely a solid opening song, I would say. It was kind of an interesting mechanic to make all of the jobs in this first episode connected and force the duo to work together in the end. I wonder if they’ll continue to do something like that. It looks like the show will be focusing around someone who targets the Minimum Holders. I wonder if it’s a similar situation to Scar from Fullmetal Alchemist, where the person is someone without Minimum that gained power similar to Minimum somehow. This show could be interesting and I’m considering picking it up.
