Pretty interesting first episode. It doesn’t really grab your attention by shocking you with some big scene or reveal like a mystery series would normally open or like the synopsis of the show would suggest. Instead, the first episode is spent introducing our two main characters, Nishinosono Moe and Saikawa Souhei, as they head to an island to meet Magata Shiki, a genius researcher. Presumably, this is a precursor to the synopsis events, which state that they will find a corpse together. Based on the fact that Magata Shiki was the major focus of this introductory episode and the fact that she isn’t even mentioned in the series synopsis, I think it’s safe to assume that it’s her corpse that is found.
That being said, the only problem I have with that prediction is that it seems a bit strange to me that the series would kill her right after talking about how she was suspected for the murder of her parents…maybe it’s a way of subtly acquitting her? Either way, I’ve grown very curious about where this series is heading and I want to keep watching. It certainly helps that the music for this series sounds nice. The opening song is my preference, though…the ending song’s vocals are a bit annoying to me.
