I think it’s safe to say that this is one of the more highly anticipated series of this season. The manga has been pretty popular for a while for its art style and there was a lot of pressure on this anime to deliver on animation…I’d say it delivered pretty well. This adaptation was pretty faithful to the manga, even to the point of almost replicating a lot of the key panels. The story is pretty simple. The main character Saitama is a superhero that can defeat any enemy with only one punch. You would think this makes him a legend, but he’s actually quite the unknown.
I really liked watching Saitama switch from his very serious and detailed appearance to his goofy and plain face…it’s pretty funny. Also, Saitama’s strength is actually counterbalanced with the fact that no one takes him seriously, so he doesn’t always appear as overpowered as he actually is. That being said, this series doesn’t really have much of a story, so I’m not sure if I’ll keep covering it…maybe if there’s not enough other shows to do.
