Fate/stay Night Unlimited Blade Works S2 Episode 17: Betrayal again

Quite a lot of stuff happening in this week’s episode. I’m quite surprised that with three battles happening at the same time, they decided to end them all in one episode. I would have honestly expected them to have been dragged out. I’m not sure what the general opinion will be for how the main battles were presented (first showing Shirou’s side, stopping at a critical moment when Caster’s blood is spilled, then reversing time and showing from Rin’s perspective), but I wasn’t honestly a huge fan. I know that battles like these tend to happen at the same time, but I don’t see any reason why the audience needs to be made aware of that fact. Only a minor criticism of the episode, though.

I have a couple of questions regarding how this episode ends. First off, why does Archer’s arm look fine after taking Gae Bolg’s strike? My assumed answer is that his arm is still broken underneath, but he’s used magic to repair his clothes (simplest answer). And secondly, what exactly is Saber’s situation right now? With her “Master” (Caster) dead, shouldn’t she be soon to disappear from this world? I thought Archer was the only Servant capable of surviving long without a Master. So next week, Archer fights against Shirou? I’m assuming he finally reveals everything about himself. Now I can stop pretending like I don’t know who Archer really is…

  1. Archer can heal his own arm, like he healed Shiroe’s arm at other episode. The servants can stay at our world for some time before disappear, so they have a chance to get other master. Saber currently have no master, but she will probably try to protect Shiroe.

I guess that Archer survived to Lancer’s attack because he exploded his shield, that deprived the Lancer’s spear power.

And next episode finally Archer will say who he really is. Prepare for your brains blew up…

  2. *nods* Saber is without master and needs one in order to survive. Is there any human with absurd amount of mana near her? I wonder…*looks away*
