So this show’s a game adaptation for a game I haven’t played (unfortunately, it’s Japan-released only). Not too much of the premise is revealed in this first episode, so I did a little research myself. Apparently, our main character Tohru has just traveled into the past, where two parallel universes, one of which is presumably his home world, are at war with each other. I don’t know much about the game, so I can’t really comment on his other self…it’s probably a safe guess that it’s his parallel self from the other universe, but it could also just be himself from the future (the comment about Tohru being “late” seems to suggest this).
As a quick analysis of the music in the show, I’d place more preference probably on the ending theme of the two songs. But that aside, the premise seems fairly interesting and apparently, the story concept was written by Gen Urobuchi, so it has a decent amount of potential. I’ll probably need to watch an episode or two more to decide…next week looks to be when the setting gets explained to Tohru, so I should be able to make a decision off of that.
